We believe a strong Europe and thriving economy require resilient democracies, yet these face unprecedented challenges demanding fresh perspectives and innovative, action-driven solutions. That’s why the Basecamp in Lucerne brings together 45 exceptional young leaders under 45 from across Europe to leverage business for democratic innovation and responsible leadership.

Why it is worthwhile

Participants of the Basecamp not only contribute their professional expertise to the success of the Basecamp but also gain a unique opportunity to enhance their leadership profiles and grow as responsible leaders.

During the programme, they

  • engage in transformative dialogue at eye level to expand their leadership potential,
  • forge meaningful connections with peers as well as with attendees of the European Economic Forum from diverse countries and disciplines, and
  • collaborate to design innovative recommendations and solutions for the democratic challenges of today and tomorrow, with a particular emphasis on the role of the business sector.

Nach dem Basecamp bleiben die Teilnehmenden als Mitglied der sogenannten «Fellows Community» miteinander verbunden. Damit vernetzen wir auch die verschiedenen Jahrgänge untereinander und bringen Sie im jährlichen Fellows Dinner anlässlich des European Economic Forums in Luzern zusammen.

«Impact Workshop Democracy»

Together with the Mercator Foundation Switzerland and the Robert Bosch Stiftung, we organised the "Impact Workshop Democracy" for the third time at the Basecamp 2025. In a hackathon, participants will develop low-threshold and feasible projects that make an effective contribution to the preservation of democracy in Switzerland and Europe.

The highlight of the programme is the session during the European Economic Forum. Here, the participants present their projects to the audience, especially executives and decision-makers from the business world. The winning project will then be presented on the main stage in front of the entire audience.
