Professor Charles Godfray wurde am 1. Februar 2018 zum Direktor der Oxford Martin School ernannt. Er ist Professor für Populationsbiologie mit umfassenden Interessen in den Umweltwissenschaften und hat in grundlegenden und angewandten Bereichen der Ökologie, Evolution und Epidemiologie publiziert. Sein Interesse gilt der Frage, wie sich das globale Lebensmittelsystem verändern und an die Herausforderungen anpassen muss, vor denen die Menschheit im 21. Jahrhundert steht, und insbesondere dem Konzept der nachhaltigen Intensivierung sowie der Beziehung zwischen Lebensmittelproduktion, Ökosystemleistungen und Biodiversität. Im Jahr 2017 wurde er für seine Verdienste um die wissenschaftliche Forschung und die wissenschaftliche Beratung zum Ritter geschlagen.

Professor Charles Godfray was appointed Director of the Oxford Martin School on 1 February 2018. He is a Professor of Population Biology with broad interests in the environmental sciences and has published in fundamental and applied areas of ecology, evolution and epidemiology. He is interested in how the global food system will need to change and adapt to the challenges facing humanity in the 21st century, and in particular in the concept of sustainable intensification, and the relationship between food production, ecosystem services and biodiversity. In 2017 he was knighted for services to scientific research and for scientific advice to government.
