In seinem neuesten Buch On Freedom (2024) definiert Timothy Snyder Freiheit als die gemeinsame Fähigkeit, Zukunft zu gestalten. Gestützt auf politische Philosophie und historische Analyse argumentiert er, dass Freiheit – insbesondere in einer Zeit zunehmenden Autoritarismus – aktiv geschaffen werden muss: durch Verantwortung, Zusammenarbeit und starke Institutionen.
