Johannes Bohnen is an expert in strategic communication, political analysis, and campaigning. His thematic expertise primarily covers the areas of digitalization, energy, security, and orchestrated societal dialogues. In recent years, his focus has been on advising companies within the framework of the concept he developed: Corporate Political Responsibility, also known as Political Branding.

Bohnen has worked at a U.S. think tank (CSIS), as a NATO Fellow, a Fellow at the WEU Institute in Paris, at the Bertelsmann Foundation, and for the foreign policy spokesperson of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. He also served as a speechwriter for the Federal Minister of Education and Research in Bonn and as press spokesperson for the CDU in Brandenburg. From 2000 to 2001, Bohnen headed the Government & Institutions division at PLATO Kommunikation. From 2002 to 2005, he built up the PR/Public Affairs division (Scholz & Friends Agenda) at Scholz & Friends Berlin as managing director. He then became self-employed and, in 2007, co-founded the consultancy Bohnen Kallmorgen & Partner together with Jan Kallmorgen. This later evolved into BOHNEN Public Affairs in 2015.

After completing vocational training as an industrial clerk, Bohnen studied at Harvard, Bonn, and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. (Master’s in International Politics). He subsequently earned his doctorate at Oxford University.
